Council has allocated $35,000 in the 2024-25 budget and has identified Lions Park as the potential location for a fully fenced off-leash dog park to be established in Glen Innes. Your feedback will ensure this project aligns with both the community’s needs and those of your pets.

Project Overview

Our aim is to create a welcoming space where pets and their owners can safely enjoy off-leash time together in a public space, all while preserving our local environment. The proposed concept aims to elevate Lions Park into an attractive off-leash dog park with a perimeter fence, providing a delightful and secure environment for dogs to play and explore. Please take note of the ruled-out locations.

Project Highlights Include:

Fully fenced with double entry gates

Shelter (natural or man-made structure)

Signage for terms of entry/use

Basic agility infrastructure for dog free-play and exploration

Pet Waste bags

Rubbish bin/s

Water infrastructure for dogs and humans

Entry lighting

Proposed Site: Lions Park

Area: 2455m² Approx

Perimeter: 243m Approx

This 1,700-square-metre location, with an approximate perimeter of 215 metres, will be fully fenced with a double gate. This location benefits from existing public amenities such as restrooms, picnic areas, and drinking fountains. Its central location makes it easily accessible from the highway and the town centre. Additionally, the site includes existing infrastructure such as formalised parking and a caravan turn bay.
