NSW Government’s EnergyCo has released the Regional Major Infrastructure Studies for the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). These studies provide an evidence base to inform discussions on how REZ development can support regional growth, services, and local industry, including opportunities and challenges relevant to our Local Government Area.
Focus areas
Water and wastewater security: Assessment of regional needs and resilience.
Local supply chain development: Opportunities to strengthen local procurement and industry participation.
Waste management and circular economy: Approaches to reduce waste and improve resource recovery.
Training and skills pathways: Workforce readiness, education, and capability building.
Workforce accommodation: Housing and accommodation planning for construction and operations.
Why participate
Local relevance: Help ensure priorities from our LGA are reflected in REZ planning.
Inform decisions: Input will assist EnergyCo in shaping benefits, initiatives, and infrastructure planning across the New England REZ.
Community voice: Council encourages residents, businesses, and organisations to contribute perspectives that represent our community.
